Default Are whirls on the crown a sign of hairloss? Am I losing my hair? (Pics)

I'm 25 and am seeking advice about my current hair status. I have a pretty intense whirl on the crown of my head. I don't know if it's just a intense cowlick or I'm losing my hair. I have pretty straight hair so it's hair to style or comb. For as long as I know this whirl has been on my crown. Cowlicks on my head seem to show a different hair texture on my head. It's hard to explain, but seem cowlicks have less shine. Attached are some pictures.

    Am I losing my hair?

The whirl you speak of is normal. I can't really tell if you are losing your hair or not.

Based upon the pictures it looks like the stereotypical "Asian whirl." I see tons of non-balding Asian guys with that sort of hair pattern. Very straight hair with a pronounced whirl. Of course all the disclaimers apply. You might be balding, check your family history etc, in theory you could be in the early stages of diffusing into a Norwood 6.

-But, simply based on the photos? Nah. If that were the case then tons of Asian teenagers are balding at the crown.

Take new photos without using the flash on your camera. Flash makes non-balding crowns look like they're balding.

I didn't know that. Is that because of the position the hair on the crown grows as opposed to the rest of the hair on your head?

I hope you are right. Now that I think about it I see it on a lot of other Asian whirls too...

Ok it's really difficult to take a picture of the back of my head. The lighting in the area can make it look drastically different. At this point I am starting to think it's just a really bad whirl. These pictures don't show how bad this whirl is, you need to see it in person. It's all over the place.

Here it is with me standing fairly close to a bright light

you're definitely fine. the fact that the osition of the whirl changes from different angles means theres no spot that's losing hair. if you're really scared go to a hairloss doctor and see if it has miniaturization. i guarantee you that you don't though. I have asian friends who look the same and have no hair loss.
