Wired most of the money over and paid the rest in cash. I would exchange some cash to euros next time.

Communication with email was very responsive but I was surprised at how much I had to repeat my concerns when in person. Made me feel as though my concerns via email weren't fully explained to Dr Hakan before me booking the flight or if he was briefed at all. I'll know in about 6 months if im fully satisfied or not.

I'm also thinking on buying a plane ticket to turkey to get it done. And I get the whole quality vs price deal, but it seems like you can get some good quality results, for less money than a US one.

I have to chime in here. Be very carful of getting advice from those types of plastic surgery sites. You’ll see a lot of hair transplant mills advertising on them and you never know if the before and after pictures even belong to the clinic, so if you’re basing your decision to have surgery from pictures you see on these sites, I would start to do more research. If you are determined to go to Turkey for a hair transplant consult with someone in the IAHRS. There are only two or three Turkish doctors who have made the grade so at least you know you’re going to a to a top clinic.

This is excellent advice from JB. I've been learning more and more about Turkey as a hair transplant destination and there are some very big differences in the Turkish market vs. what we may be more used to in western Europe and North America. Tread carefully.

First of all if price is the determining factor in the decision to have your body altered forever then you’re crazy! The Turkish doctors in the IAHRS must be the best, but personally, I would have a hard time with the idea of traveling to Turkey for such a huge life decision. I see the potential for too many problems, one being the possible language barrier that I read about and the fact that some of these clinics want cash. This is just my opinion, and like I said, I’m positive that the IAHRS doctors are very well qualified, but with so many well qualified members here in the U.S., I see no point in potentially making life more difficult just to save some money.

thanks J_B_Davis and JoeTillman. I'd only be going if the price is significantly cheaper. I saw flights for under 600, and assumed i would put $2400 down for grafts, as I've seen a lot of these images that got large portions of their heads done for $2000. I wonder what the price per graft is for at the top clinics with certified doctors. I'd be willing to fly far to lessen the price, but if it's not going to be any cheaper in the end, or I don't get good results, then it won't be worth it. Do I just email the IAHRS certified doctor's and ask what their cost per graft is?

No, you don't just email them and ask their price per graft You fill out the consultation forms they have on their respective websites and see what they recommend based on your photos and your stated expectations. THEN you'll find out the price per graft AND you'll be more informed about what they have in mind for you. But don't hesitate to do the same for IAHRS doctors in your home country to see what they have to say. You might be surprised, for better or for worse, about what you can find locally. The good thing is, you have options, and I personally think you should find the top five doctors you like for their work and their responses to your emails, THEN and only then, consider price.
