Had to jump back on TRT again to keep from advancing osteoporosis and i'm just trying to keep my hair if I can. went from raging hardons on pregnenolone and super sex drive to almost zero sexual desire within one week on test and minoxidil. Perhaps I need the test to set in, but the minoxidil is definitely having a negative effect. Like I said, it happened before. Tried it again because some rocket scientist said it was all in my head. It is not in my head. ...My question is has anyone ditched Minoxidil because of sides and switched to DUT with no sides.
There is no physiologic reason that topical minoxidil in therapeutic doses should have any effect on sex drive. None. It operates a potassium channel which dilates arterioles and not venules. There really isn't any reason that libido should be affected.

Rogaine foam: Decreased libido is also a possible side effect, according to the University of Iowa.

Sorry, I know you're trying to help. I'm just a little twisted. My bad.

What is the exact side effect that you're having? Minoxidil shouldn't affect hormones at all. It could possibly have an effect similar to anti-hypertensives as related to erection and blood flow, but topical use shouldn't cause that, and honestly, minoxidil is kind of a crappy medication for hair loss. I doubt it ever did anything for me except give me crazy dermatitis and flaking. Dutasteride is the only thing that has given me results thus far.

Well the minoxidil has azelic acid in it which is a dht blocker so that could be it, but my libido steadily crashed and now porn doesn't even work. Tried this 2 years ago and same thing happened but I started it up again because people were telling me it was all in my head. It is not in my head. So I stopped.

Aonyx262 : dod you go for blood work, and if so where is your dht level resting at to keep hair and still maintain libido. And at what dose are you taking DUT?

Hey, Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I did not go for blood work to check my DHT, so I can't really answer that. I've considered it though, and I would if I felt like I wasn't getting results or if I had a side effect. Currently at GSK Avodart 0.5mg 3X/wk and Generic Finasteride 1mg 3X/wk with one day where I don't take anything. Still no side effects to report on at this time. I doubled dosed once by accident and noticed a small increase in libido, which probably didn't have anything to do with the drug.

Blushark: For me I saw results about 3 months after starting Avodart and 6 months after starting Finasteride. So I can't really say which did it. The finasteride didn't do a whole lot, even for shedding, and I was between switching to Brand Propecia or starting Avodart and decided to give avodart a try. I noticed a decrease in shedding within 2 weeks of starting the Avodart before I started seeing a visual difference. The hairline started first, and then the crown about 2 months later. At best I was pretty close to stopping Caboki altogether because I didn't need it any more. Unfortunately, I've had a significant shed over the last 2-3 weeks that I can't really explain other than that I really started slacking on Minoxidil. It seems to be slowing down now, so I'm hoping maybe it was the minoxidil or some sort of follicle synchronization or seasonal shed or something like that.

                  Good luck!

Where is a reputable website to get dutasteride?

in-house requires a prescription now which sucks...

                        I used this website. https://www.medicalwellnesscenter.com

They will send you a prescription in the mail and you can take it to whatever pharmacy you want, except online pharmacies. It costs more probably but at least you know you're getting a real drug.

thought i'd come back and say that I used this and it worked. I got prescribed and sent that in to in-house so i can still get generics online cheap now. thanks again.
