    Effective Non-Finasteride Treatments

    Hello all,

A long time reader and infrequent poster to these forums, I have tried a number of different hair loss treatments (finasteride, ru, rogaine, topical s5 spiro, equol, saw palmetto, etc. etc.) with the only treatment that seems to be effective or very effective in maintaining my hair being finasteride. The problem is that like many others on these forums I suffer significant sexual sides from finasteride and plan to discontinue taking the drug.

Once I do this, I'd like to maintain as much of my hair as possible. So, for everyone on the forums who has taken finasteride, suffered sexual sides, and used other treatments, what have you found to be the most effective? Has anyone found a treatment that effectively replaces finasteride? My current plan is to try ru 58841, topical finasteride, saw palmetto, regenepure, and equol and hopefully I maintain nearly all the hair I have been preserving with finasteride . . .

    Advice is much appreciated!

Benis23, until you find an alternative treatment, maybe try to take the Fin every other day, or split the pill and take half a day. I am not a doctor, so this is just speculation here. But you may be lowering your DHT levels too low.

Without DHT in your system you lose your libido, erections, etc. ...You do need some in your system to maintain a healthy life. By taking half the fin you were taking should raise your DHT a bit and that may be your sweet spot where you can maintain your sexual function and still keep hair loss at bay. However, there is a chance that raising DHT too much might bring back hair loss, so only you can make that decision.

    Just an opinion. Good luck.

If RU helps you hold ground please let us know. I would like to keep that option in my back pocket just in case I need to stop taking fin.
