.....just thought I would share my experience now that I am in my 40's and have been using the generic proscar and minoxidol combo for awhile. I started losing my hair in high school and when I was about to turn thirty, or when the first picture was taken with my head shaved, that's when I started. About 6 months after I began, I went through some shedding re growth stuff and the second picture (now, or almost 14 years later) was taken the other day after I got a hair cut! I WOULD be bald, for sure, if I hadn't done anything, so I am really grateful for this forum and just wanted to give back to you newbies that are freaking out.

*this is only MY experience, some dudes grow boobs or even worse I guess....I dont' know. I had -0- side effects, I eat a diet rich in nutrients, but drink and smoke occasionally and exercise daily.

Like you said, a lot of newbies are affraid of taking fin because all the stories out there. Positive results like these are rarely posted online (why would you if finasteride is working fine?)... So thanks a lot for posting your experience with finasteride!

Thanks for your post and yeah your hair looks pretty good considering the condition it was in when you started treatment. I started around the same time except my crown is much worse.

Awesome! That's great to know, thanks for sharing. I'm doing the same thing, just 7 months in now, but I'm seeing very promising results. I had a shedding period right away for a couple weeks. None since. I've been wondering about long term, but this is encouraging. Here's my progress so far:

What was your's like around the 6-12 month timeframe? Did you have more than one shedding period?
