Default Early Signs of Balding? 24

Had reasonably long hair for a while recently got a hair cut and see early signs of balding? 24 years old. Do have what looks like the early sign of a receding hair on temple and what looks like the start of a bald patch on crown, also attached is an older picture, crown has always been a bit scarce with almost fuzzy thin hair

It's hard to tell with the pictures, but it honestly looks great to me. However, I will say that you know your hair better than anyone else does, so if you think it seems like it's thinning/receding, it's worth a trip to the doctor to get a professional opinion. I noticed that mine started thinning around age 25, but everyone I asked about it told me it was fine and that my hairline was just "maturing". Then by the time I turned 30, it had started increasing quite rapidly to the point where it was undeniable. I then started taking finasteride and had a hair transplant almost 5 months ago. Perhaps if I had gotten a professional opinion sooner and started taking finasteride back then, I could've prolonged the hair transplant. I'm fine with the way it all worked out for me, but if you meet with a doctor and start taking finasteride now (if it is indeed thinning), you could potentially save yourself a little heartache down the line.

I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My opinions/comments are my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff.

No need to worry. You're too young to get bald. You may observe in a few weeks to see if it gets worst.

It doesn't work that way. I thought everybody on this forum knew this, guess I was wrong

thanks for your reply, i went and seen my doctor today and he did in fact say i was starting to go bald. he said my hair had not changed in texture but i had started to recede (which i do know most people do as they get older) he also said the crown was showing signs of it also. he is right about that, its tough to see but in the photo of the front top view you can see its is slightly more scarce down the middle (a top view in lit room shows this much clearer). While part of me does think he might be right another part of me still wonders. my hair has always been relatively long and i've had those receding temples for a while but normally a long pushed over fringe covered that. as for the hair on top i have noticed that little bald spot a few years ago when i had my hair cut to a medium length but the hair all around grows normally and it eventually just gets covered. if i was in fact going bald wouldn't that whole area not grow at the same speed or texture of other hair? also my father has full hair and both grand fathers were not bald (fathers dad did lose hair as he entered old age but from all photos of him in 30s 40s he had full hair)

Did your doctor mention anything to you about meds? If you start treating it now you may be able to prevent it from progressing and potentially avoid a HT altogether down the road.

briefly, i'm seeing a specialist in a week about it to get some expert advice, i guess i will see what he says, as i've read a lot of these medications can halt hair loss if you catch it early and as i mentioned i'm of the opinion im in an early stage, my hair is thin on top going down the middle and there is a bit of scalp visible from crown while hairs short but no more signs that i can see.
