Exogenous IGF-1 promotes hair growth
May be beneficial for the restoration of human hair loss and which may be used as an alternative to synthetic drugs.
" Local injection of IGF-1 increased hair follicle number and prolonged the growing phase during the transition from anagen to telogen. Meanwhile, immunology analyses revealed that IGF-1 also stimulated the proliferation of follicle cells in anagen of the matrix and down regulated TGF-β1 expression in hair follicles. "

And here an other abstract published on 4 december 2014 :

As someone who bought igf-lr3 and tried to inject it into his scalp... it's not easy going. Gave up after a week.
Would love to find some sort of topical igf-1 though.

This is in mice however it was already confirmed to be downregulated in dp cells balding scalp in human :

Baicalin in vitro upregulate it by a 4 folds level

Interresting....but....How doing with this now ?
-
so why not inject human growth hormone which causes IGF-1 release from the liver? So exogenous hGH can do the same thing. Exogenous IGF-1 ( Increlex ) is brutally expensive.

Perhaps with Follicept, my friend

thanks, good job noisette! you've found a lot of nice igf1 studies during these last weeks.
the only question now is if igf1 in humans is a strong factor as in mice. if so, then follicept could hold the key.
as you're good at searching studies, here's another thought: besides IGF1 there must be other growth factors which are beneficial for hair growth.
maybe you could look for similar studies as well, where other growth factors come into play. maybe we have the chance to use them with follicept too, if the dose is low enough to be treated as cosmetic.
just an idea.

Isnt this exactly what follicept was trying to do? So if it works they are going to find out.

Thank you brother
I can give you Three interesting studies :
1. One called: Paracrine crosstalk between human hair follicle dermal papilla cells and microvascular endothelial cells. and published on 2015 Feb 18
" Accordingly, Human follicle dermal papilla cells enhance the endothelial release of VEGF and IGF-1 "
source : http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25690790
2. Other one called: Hematological and hepatic effects of vascular epidermal growth factor (VEGF) used to stimulate hair growth in an animal model and pubished on 10/ 2013
" VEGF increased hair follicle area, but more studies are necessary to confirm its toxicity " " The aim of this study was the evaluation of a topical gel enriched with VEGF liposomes on the hair growth stimulation "

3. The last one called : Expression and Purification of Functional Human Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor-A 121 ; the Most Important Angiogenesis Factor
" This process is an essential component in the growth of normal cells and tissues during embryonic development, reproductive cycle and wound healing "
