Bulimia Nervosa and hair loss

Ever since I was in the 10th grade until a year ago (5 years now) I've had occasional bulimic episodes where I would binge and purge. Is it possible that bulimia accelerated my hair loss 'gene' thus explaining my rapidly thinning hair now?
My sides/sideburns/temples have been thinning at an alarming rate.

I've been debating if I should start propecia but I'm scared that it might simply be telogen effluvium and/or stress caused by my past eating disorder and veryy stressful event I had two months ago. And **If** my hair loss is NOT due to TE, would propecia even help the sides,sideburns,temple area?
