All the hair surgeons I spoke to say that PRP doesn't work.

So I spoke with four surgeons regarding FUE and always brought up PRP towards the end of the consultation. Here are some of the comments I remember them leaving:
    • Doesnt work.
    • Not necessary next to FUE
    • A luxury
    • No double-blind studies
    • Hair growth only the result of an HT
    • Results you need a microscope to see

Has anyone actually gotten it and seen results, and that's the only surgery you received? Results significantly above medications? Would like to see before & after pictures if possible.

there's definitely an improvement visible, but it's hard to tell how much exactly because the hairs in the before picture are wet to some extent, and also combed totally chaotic.
in the after picture all hairs are dry and combed into the same direction. that adds a lot of volume and changes the appearance dramatically. i know it from my own experience. when all my hair is dry and combed into the same direction, it looks like i have 3 times more hair. other guys here probably know that effect, too.

thus, normally i would say now that this before/after picture arrangement is a typical way of cheating, like it can be found in every hairloss-cheaters-book.
however, like mentioned, beside that wet/dry effect i think i see some improvement too. the hair for example look a bit thicker after the treatment.

His Cross-section Trichometry numbers improved significantly:

I believe Dr. Cole mentioned to me it was Dr. Merritt who did the "plucking" study and determined that a man with a full head of hair can lose up to 50% of his hair before it appears thin.

That's getting somewhere, but the glaring reality is that if PRP is such an effective treatment, then there should be universities or companies conducting peer-reviewed, double-blind studies to confirm this. In the meanwhile, I for one am having difficulty spending $1,500 on something that may or may not work for me.
