    Need suggestion about taking Finasteride

Hi everyone, I am planning to have hair transplantation in next month. I am 30 and MPB of NW3a. I'll be getting married later this year so I'm really concerned about taking Finasteride post surgery. As I've heard it will affect libido and causing lesser erection. Is it's affect permanent or If I stop taking the medicine will it come back to normal?

On the other hand if I don't take it hair growth would be 15-35% lesser after the surgery. Is there any alternate medicine that has the same result without the side effects? I'm in a great dilemma . Please guys help me out on this with your feedback.

    Hi there,

I've been a long time lurker of the forum and first time poster. I actually got my first rx for finasteride today and took my first pill this afternoon. Thus far I haven't noticed any change at all... In anything except maybe less shedding, but that varies from day to day. It's only been one day though, so we'll see. In my opinion and some of the research I've done, side effects are rare, and most often mild at worst. Your diet and exercise level are probably going to affect your erection more than taking finasteride. In adults, DHT doesn't play a major role in erection or libido.

I think the bottom line is: do you want to continue to lose hair by not taking finasteride and hope for the best, or take the chance that you may have side effects on the medication and have a shot at least saving the hair behind your HT?
