Advice re: (possible) newcomer to finasteride.

I’ve recently been reconsidering my situation with regards to my hair loss and, after much thought, have decided that I am wanting to explore finasteride.

It’s something that I never really wanted to have to consider given the risk (and the nature) of possible side-effects but my thinning has become much more noticeable in recent weeks and my concealer, Toppik, isn’t working as effectively as it once did in covering up my thinning areas.

I’ve made enquiries as to the cost and availability of finasteride and now find myself at the crucial point of making a decision. This is where you, the forum members, factor in.

In short, I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me.

For example, should I buy Propecia or is generic finasteride just as good? Should I gradually introduce the finasteride into my system and, if so, are there any tips or tricks that you’d be willing to share? Is it worth seeing a doctor to have tests conducted to monitor DHT levels, etc.?

Anything that you’re able to share would be very much appreciated, be it from personal experience or from knowledge that you’ve accumulated during the weeks, months or years in battling this condition.
