Default 5800 CIT (scalp) on class 6 patient with matured growth - No Strip Scars

This class 6 patient was treated with 12,500 grafts over three sessions. The body hair was mainly placed in the vertex of the crown, but also helped to thicken the frontal third. The combination of CIT scalp harvesting and Dr. Cole’s patented CIT farming technique helps to produce a donor result that allows the patient to wear his hair very short in the back, even after more than 5800 grafts are harvested.

    The totals are:
    5843 scalp hair grafts
    3559 BHT grafts
    3077 CIT farming grafts

    Default CIT farming is...

There is virtually no difference between farming and harvesting. The only difference between the two is the location of the recipient areas. Many patients who have this method performed don't return and we don't see many of the end results of farming. The yields cannot be predicted as farming remains a source of non-scalp hair. CIT farming is not always a 1 to 1 exchange and there are also many cases where only a percentage of the donor received CIT farming. The objective of the farming is to replete the donor area, camouflage missing scalp hair, and stimulate the production of melanin. Patients who use CIT farming are typically those who have extensive hair loss, need repair, and may expect significant hair loss at a later time.

    Default Body Hair Transplant (BHT)

Bigmac. Sometimes body hair seems to work quite well and sometimes it does not. Results vary from one patient to another, as well as the source of donor body hair. We've also seen good body hair growth in certain areas on the scalp, and not so impressive results in other areas of the same patients scalp.

Leg, chest, and beard seem to work best depending on each patient’s goals. We prefer to perform a test first to see how patients respond to body hair. Sometimes the growth is good, but the result is subtle and produces a limited aesthetic improvement. Some individuals will be thoroughly excited about subtle improvement, while others will not. It is better to evaluate how each patient responds and how each patient perceives the results prior to having a larger procedure performed.

In our experience body hair seems to almost always produce growth, but one cannot predict who will get a good result, who will be satisfied with their procedure, and who will get a poor result. There are still unknowns with regard to using body hair on the scalp.

Thanks for that, i would hazzard a guess that more docs will be venturing into BHT once they learn and see more results.

Post Benefits & Limitations of body hair transplatation (BHT)

    Bigmac,

Yes. In the right hands, body hair transplantation can be beneficial for a large number of patients. Patients who have extensive scarring, over harvested donor supply, or major hair loss may benefit most from BHT. Since we began BHT, our primary focus has been to increase the overall aesthetics and yield of each patient’s results. By extensive study and testing, we have been able to focus on improving our approach and technique of harvesting body hair. We have implemented several key steps within our BHT preparation method of BHT which have been shown to be beneficial for our patients. Although BHT can produce results, we would much rather use scalp donor resources to produce more predictable results and yield of growth. BHT should be a LAST OPTION for patients who understand that the results are unpredictable and have several limitations.
