    Weaning Off Minoxidil (Spencer Kobren)

    Hey guys,

So I have heard on other forums that Spencer Kobren had success weaning himself off Minoxidil.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any links to his account of this?
I can't seem to find it anywhere on here, but I'm very interested to hear how he did it!

Likewise, has anyone else had success with this?!

    Thanks!

I’ve been listening to Spencer Kobren since he was doing his show from New York. I remember him talking about getting off of Rogaine like in 2001 or something. He said it took him about 1 year and he went from twice a day, to once per day pretty quickly and then just used less and less, eventually skipping days until he was only using it like twice per week. I think this helped him avoid the major shed.

I've had to stop applying minox on my crown because i just can't cope with the itching. Waking up in the middle of the night having to itch hard and continuously for ages.

I didn't notice any regrowth on the crown so i just hope it wasn't maintaining. I still use on the hairline though as I can cope with that.

As far as itching...I have a shaved head and put aloe vera gel (the clear stuff) on my head after the minox dries. Not sure if it would work with longer hair, but it helps with dryness. I never had issues with itching, but I figure it couldn't hurt and may keep the minox from evaporating as it seems to remain on my scalp for quite a while. Just thought I'd throw that idea out there.

Hey bro, it won't itch if you use a minox product that doesn't contain propylene glycol. Try rogaine foam (or its generic equivalent), the itching will stop
