Shampoo for thinning hair?

Hello. I will be 54 soon. I have always had thick great hair. Years ago I started thinning in my crown area. I am using Rogaine. I really believe it's making my crown section thicker. I'm happy about that. I am pretrfied that the front of my hair is starting thinning in a section. However, it might be because part of the hair is white and the other half is black. What type of shampoo should I use along with Rogaine to help promote hair follicle stimulation. Someone suggest I start using either bosley or nioxin. I am starting to take biotin as a vitamin supliment.
