Exclamation 3.5 months after quitting minoxidil help !

    Hi,
my name is jeffrey and I'm 19 years old
Last september, I went to a dermatologist because i was afraid to lose my hair and I freaked because i saw that i lose some hairs (15 to 20 per day)
So , when he saw me , he saw my scalp and asked me if i have anyone who is bald in my family , I told him no (no one in my family is bald , even my grandparents and uncles from my dad and also my mom still have hair). Then he told me that I have like a localised hairloss and ordered to apply minoxidil for 3 months and then go back to see him again . during this 3 months , i haven't noticed any change and no shedding is remarked. When i saw him again he told me to reduce the application to 1ml per day for another 3 months. I did what he told me and i have ramarked that i started losing some hairs than. when I saw him again he told me that I have AGA and stop minoxidil and use a lotion called kerium for 3 months and if it doesn't work i go back on minoxidil. 2 or 3 weeks after stopping minoxidil I lost too much hair in the places where i used to apply minoxidil and some other places (the left half of my frontal hairline is more thin and also the left temple and on the top of my scalp the density is lower than before I starter using minoxidil) and the density horribly decresed . I applied that lotion called kerium for 1 month and i gave it up because it was doing noithing and i decided not to see that MD anymore cuz i suspected his competence. now it's 3.5 months since i stopped minoxidil and the situation didn't change and maybe i'm still in the post minoxidil shed . now my questions are :
Am i going to recover the healthy hair that I lost from using minoxidil (because I don t think i have AGA because i don t have a familial antecedent)?
    How long should I wait?
Did my Md intended to cure my hairloss using minoxidil in short-term? Does that mean that I don't have AGA and I present another disease ?
What do you think of my case?
    Thank you for responding

Hey Jeffry...I'm no doctor, but that's not going to stop me from pretending to be one on the internet. My guess is that your doc was trying to give you the brush off. Never heard of the kerium stuff and doubt it has much efficacy. My thought is you should go back on Minox and consider Fin. You're either losing your hair or not. Minox causes a shed, but not a permanant loss. If the hair isn't growing back, it's probably due to genetics. I would consider starting Fin at the point you feel you can't afford any further loss. It works better as a preventative measure/slows down loss rather than a regrower.

Widowmaker I don t want to go back on meds I just want let things go natural because I feel that the cause of my hairloss isn t genetics because none of my family is bald and i did a bad msitake by seeing that doctor who did a quick diagnosis whithout consideration and gave me minoxidil just like that
Now I just want to know if the hair that shed after stopping minoxidil will grow back (if is was healthy) because I m afraid I killed all the healthy follicles with minox when I stopped .. And if the will how long I should wait to expect a regrow?
    Thanks

It's very difficult to "kill" hair follicles. When I was 16, I placed my bare hands in caustic carburetor cleaner and burned the skin pretty bad. The hair survived and grows to this day. We had a patient in who went to a doctor with a large loyal fan following and ended up with a terrible hairline. He tried death by laser twice with no success. Dr. Cole had to surgically remove the multiple hair grafts placed on his straight-across hairline placed way too low.

Have you had a recent physical? Are you taking any medication with a hair loss side effect? Have you had any medical procedure that could cause hair loss like bariatric surgery?

That doctor of yours is incompetent in that he sold you snake oil treatment and didn't even consider referring you to a specialist since he clearly didn't know much about hairloss. If you don't have AGA and used minoxidil, IMO the shed or hair loss you are currently having should go away since starting most hair loss treatments such as finasteride and minoxidil often result in a shedding phase due to the change in the hairs growth cycle, so I believe it should get back to normal. I would however recommend you actually see a hair specialist possibly a reputable hair transplant surgeon, as they often know much more about hair loss and can check for miniaturization which is the key indicator that you may have AGA.

This might sound a bit random, but how much do you masturbate? It's kind of interesting that you had no family history and yet you still experience hair loss.

Some people noticed shed decreases when they stop masturbating, i noticed myself that too.

Maybe give it a try? 2-3 months?

    Good luck

Just something to consider. Just because you don't know anybody in your family that is bald doesn't mean you don't carry the gene. My dad is the only one bald in his family. ONLY ONE. All his brothers and his dad have all their hair. I am not saying you are definitely losing your hair, but you might be. If you just want to go natural then there is really nothing left to do but don't take any drugs and just see what happens.
