Potential Hair Loss?
I'm 22 and just noticed a thin area of hair on my crown. I've been working a security job for the summer, and while I was monitoring our cameras I saw the back of my head in one of them. There was a large white spot where my hair whorl is, and it scared me as it looked like a bald spot. I was hoping to see if I may possibly be experiencing early hair loss.
My father is bald and my brother began balding when he was 23. I've been told my hair takes after my mother's side as it is very thick and grows very fast. It is black, straight and fine hair, which my mother said was the reason why I saw the spot on the back of my head so noticeably. She used to be a hair stylist and she said my hair whorl was fine, but it looks bigger and thinner than the pictures I've found for normal ones.
I can't go to my doctor for a few months since I am living out of state over the summer, but I plan on consulting him when I get back. In the mean time, I wanted to see if anyone could give me some insight into whether or not I'm experiencing hair loss. I want to make sure that if I am I can take action.
I took these pictures under a bright light to help increase visibility. Please let me know if it looks like I may begin balding. Thanks.
