    A big dilemma - help!

    Hey everyone,

I’m a typical(?) 19 year old, who started having temple recession when I was 16 and lately it got worse. I went to a dermatologist and got Regaine in marts, Nizoral 2% in April and Propecia in May. So I slowely stepped in the big 3 regiment.

So far there has been no problems, I’m handling all treatments well with no side effects. Liquid Regaine gave me residue, so I swopped to foam and the problem was solved.

Dad’s a strong NW1 in his mid 60’s, but have a few baldies on his side of the family.

My situation is NW1-NW2 where I still have my old NW0 hairline in vellus hair/miniaturizing hairs.

My concern is if I should jump on Avodart/dutasteride 0.5mg ED and add RU58841 later down the line.

My philosophy is to add one thing at the time and see if it works, so I don’t know if one month on finansteride is enough to see if it works. My hairline is just absolutely filled with small darker hairs, vellus hairs, thin and thick hairs all over it. I cannot see if this is a sign that I’m miniaturizing or regrowing, but it’s getting worse and worse so I think number 1 is the answer :/

I’m currently going to add Neogenic within a few days, and see how its gonna work over the summer in terms of regrowth

Finansteride and Dutasteride works differently on people due to genotype, so I am not gonna swop for either, I’m thinking of taking both in conjunction!

What do you think I should do? Should I add dutasteride straight away and not risk losing more of my hairline? Or should I take a deep breath and see if finansteride is enough?

I just don’t want to lose more hair… and at the same time im scared Avodart will effect my beard, which I barely have start getting.

I’ve caught baldness early, and my 1 year and 7 month fight for a doctor to prescribe me propecia seems useless, as it’s not working as of yet ☹ I’m still shedding god damit! This whole situation is ONE big dilemma man.

Help a brother out, please, what should I do?

You should take a deep breath and enjoy your youth. Get a buzz cut and go have an adventure. Stop being so terrified.

Well I have a chance to try to stop my hair loss, so why wouldn't I.

If you are holding ground with propecia and not having side effects just keep doing that. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Good job catching it early.

Leonardo, the best advice I could give you at this point is to stick with finasteride. If I understood your post it sounds like you just started the drug. Forget about all the stories of guys growing their hair back in 3 months, for most of us that is not going to happen. Give it at least a year. At that point you should be able to tell if it is working. Too many guys(including myself) get impatient and want instant results and when they don't get them they think the drugs aren't working. Have patience, give it time before moving on to the next treatment.

great that you caught it early!
for now, just get on finasteride and/or minox.. get on with life. later, you may consider HT, if necessary.
