    Default Starting Big 3 questions

I am 27 years old with a NW3 planning on starting the big 3 but wanted to ask a few questions first. I don't know if there is a right way to start treatment I'd just like to make sure. Here is the regiment I plan on starting:

    .25mg fin 1x daily
5% min foam 1x daily maybe 2x on my days off
    1% niz 2x weekly

    1. Is .25mg fin enough to be effective? I have read it is almost as effective as 1 mg

    2. Will 1% niz be alright or should I go with the 2%?

    3. Should fin be started before min? If so how long? I am planning on starting fin two weeks before min to try blocking some DHT off before regrowth. Does it matter or should I start both the same day?

I'm 27 too, but my hair has been thinning for the last two years.
I have gone thru the big 3 just like you did.

and honestly, I would pick one of the two (fin or rogaine) to start with.
Just to see which one works.

The problem I had was that, I was not getting the right result over time, and I did not know which one went wrong.

not sure why you want to do 0.25 dosage, do you have any reason?
are you afraid of side effect? or is it about the budget?

niz 2% no problem. twice a week is about right!

My hairs been thinning since I was 18 but hasn't been the bad until 2 years ago like you. It never bothered me until my grandfather told me a few months ago "You're going bald like me!" And he's full blown horse shoe which I'd like to avoid.

Rogaine without fin: wouldn't any new regrowth be destroyed without a dht blocker?

And I decided on .25mg fin because of the budget. If I had the money I'd take 1mg a day.

    No, think about it.

You will most likely need to take both of them for the rest of your life.

    So, think carefully.

Two application a day for the rest of your life is like crazy. I was on it for two years and I knew it.

It's your choice, but my recommendation is to pick one first.
I took two and i regret it.

If you want to save money, just get proscar and cut it into 4.
What I also did was take proscar every other day since it's 1.25mg

    Hi GettingGone , Hi everyone!
I just wanted to let you know that I began using the generic brand of Finasteride, 'Dr Reddy's' since the beginning of August 2013.
    1mg per day~ everyday.
This coming August will be the one year mark since using it .
I am experiencing a decent amount of rejuvenated hair density since being on Finasteride GettingGone.
Ive been pretty happy with it.
No I dont have a full head of hair but I do have really good density 'repair' work..
    Cheers all.

Arista I'm glad that your experience with meds is positive

I am eagerly waiting for density restoration from Dutasteride but I haven't seen any yet.

Can you tell me when you started noticing your density increase? And where are you noticing the density increase?

Also did you notice that your density fluctuated at all? Like your hair may have looked thinner before you noticed the increase of hair density?

Hi again Illuminated, to answer your questions,

"Can you tell me when you started noticing your density increase? And where are you noticing the density increase?
I would say that there was something happening around the end of the 3 month marker,,here are a few excerpts from my thread
'Artista and Finasteride' began on August 2013.
    http://www.baldtruthtalk.com/showthread.php?t=13550

Stated on 08-14-2013- 14th day of Finasteride usage.
" I am at a NW 5 at this time.
I do have plenty of hair on top that has miniaturized in the last 8 years ,even 'DermMatch' doesn't help like it had a couple of years ago.
I am hoping that those hair follicles mentioned will be revitalized by the medicine".
    Stated on 09-09-2013-
"It is now my 40th day on Finasteride.
NO side effects to speak of, major or minor.
My 'good' hair as I have said before, DOES seem to be a bit more robust.
My existing hair at the front and mid-scalp being effected by MPB seems to be "puffier" as stated by my wife ,or robust too".

    Stated on 11-03-2013-
"I wanted to say that this morning, Nov. 3rd 2013,
Im 2 days into my 4th month on Finasteride now. Again after i had taken my shower this morning and went to the mirror, I was genuinely impressed with what i am seeing now. That was not the case prior to taking Fin'.
I am feeling VERY POSITIVE about its usage.
I cannot wait to see what improvement may arise at the 6 month mark!"

Today Illuminated, approx 10 months+ into Finasteride I and my wife would say that the density improvements are at the midscalp and forelock (the temporal areas)
Now..I NEVER focus on looking at my crown. I will at the 1 year marker in which I will be taking photos for the before/after images which i will share here.
I asked my wife to unbiasedly review my scalp yesterday using GOOD lighting.
She KNOWS that i need a truthful response and she also knows that my feelings or attitude would NOT be hurt if her response were that of a 'no improvement' at all.
The truth is that YES my crown is showing improvements ,,meaning that the vellus hairs have somewhat improved. Last year she said that my crown was 'shiny' (due to the lack of densified hair) today my crown is NOT shiny-
Of course my crown lacks any fullness but it is improving slowly.
She said ESPECIALLY at the bottom edge of the bald crown,,that she can see a 'rejuvenation' of hair growing along that bottom edge which were once turned vellus. If only I had started on Finasteride a couple of years ago-lol
    (water under the bridge)
    Cheers all- stay STRONG!
