    Default Call me crazy

Ok the title says it all, and I'm almost positive no one can give a definite answer, but this is the cutting edge section and I'd like to know what others thought. I got to thinking about gene therapy, and I did a little basic research and saw that the scientists alter a virus in the lab so it can replace the cells with defective genes. Then I remembered a story I heard a while back about a young girl who had advanced cancer of some type and the Doctors last shot at helping her was to go out on a limb and alter the HIV virus in such a way that it would only attack the cancer, to my knowledge it successfully treated the cancer with no trace of the virus in her body... Then it occurred to me, cancer is the uncontrollable division of abnormal cells, and hair growth is also dependent upon cellular division for length of the shaft. My question is, would it be possible to alter cancer cells to cause division of cells within the follicle? Can anyone shed some light possibly? I realize it's pretty far fetched but I'd really like to hear some opinions. Thanks

Injecting cancer cells into people would be risky to say the least.

If I remember correctly, scientist attempted injecting cancer cells into prisoners in the 1960s, small rumors formed at the injection site but that is all that happened.
