Default Will my hair grow back?

I'm 19 and have lost about 1/4 of an inch from my hairline, I also have some thinning in the mid section. I realized the hair loss about 3 months ago and have started Propecia two weeks ago. I have realized the hair loss quite early as I have short hair, I was just wondering what are the chances that the hair will grow back? I hope that I have given myself the best chance as I have started quite early.
    Thank you

It's impossible to tell how you will respond to Propecia-- additionally, your age muddies the waters as well.

At 19, the hair line recession might just be you getting your "adult hairline".

If I were to speculate, I'd say the chances are very good that the mid section hair will either stabilize "as is" or stabilize and come back. I say this because the hair follicles in this area seems to have just started to miniaturize and should respond well to Propecia treatment. The hairline is more problematical.

Also keep in mind that when Propecia really kicks in, your hair loss is apt to get WORSE-- meaning you could well have shedding before the hair comes back in stronger. You may have to endure several cycles of this before you see ultimate results.

I hope you have done your research as to what Propecia treatment can entail. There are risks as well as rewards.

Good luck to you and remember a few things:

1). Don't be defined by your thinning hair. Easier said than done but your mental attitude as well keeping up your physical appearance will go a long way in mitigating the impact of hair loss.

2). Hairpiece? not really an answer. Just a trade off from one set of problems to another.

3). Transplant? not an option at your age and stage of hair loss. Most likely this will be the case for the next decade.

4), Miracle cure just around the corner? don't believe it. Eventually new treatments will be available and mainstream. When? that's easy. It's always "5 to 7 years away".

5). Don't let hair loss poison this very special time in your life (refer point 1).

Hal wrote a good post. At the very least you should take comfort in the fact that you did something early in the hair loss process. Not much more you can really do. So take the meds and live your life.
