    Default need some opinions

I was diagnosed with male pattern baldness. I have been losing hair very fast since past few years. I have damn thick sides but except that the hair density is very poor.

So the doctor prescribed me Finasteride (5mg). I took them (generic Dr Reddy Fin) for a week and I was getting very crazy side effects (the penis felt completely numb and I was tired and exhausted all the time). So I asked the doc and he told me to stop taking Fin. Its been 3 weeks now since then and I have recovered completely from the side effects.

However, the hair loss is still rampant and at this rate I am certain of losing whatever hair I have on my head real quick. What are the other alternatives? I guess finasteride cannot be considered for me considering the crazy side effects.

Hold on David, do you mean to say you're taking 5mg a day!? That's way too much - it should be 1mg.

You could try minox. However reducing your dosage to fin may help with sides.5mg to start off is too much. Cut it into at least quarters or even lower then see how you do.

Bro you're supposed to cut that pill in 4 parts and take one single part each day. Not the entire 5 mg pill at once, every day! That's really bad for your health. I can't believe your doctor hasn't made this clear. If you had continued taking one whole pill per day you probably wouldn't have a dick right now...

Thanks a ton man! I will start the medication again with 1.25 mg per day. I stopped after my 3-4 doses. It was terrible.

I'd also consider finding another doctor at least to look after your hair needs.
When it comes to Hair loss Fin and Minox is just about the only tried and tested product that has withstood the test of time anything else you see on the market is probably 80% lies, 19% marketing and 1% true.

Just keep close attention to yourself as you have been already whilst on fin.

You shouldn't just find a new doctor. You should go to your current doctor, first of all tell him to **** off, and then tell him you are talking to a lawyer about a potential lawsuit. Tell us what he says.

I had a similar dermatologist at a time who doesn't know a damn thing about hair loss. They are so uninterested in a patient coming in about it that they don't even bother to make sure they tell you to take it the right way. It's obviously because there's no money in it for them, otherwise they'd know all about it. Damn.

Cant really take him to lawsuit at the moment he is a distant relative. This was when I was visiting my home in India (few months back).

Right now I am back in Canada and the bad part is that the doctors here (in Canada) just keep on dismissing a patient who is looking for some treatment for hair loss. The last time I visited a GP (in vancouver, Canada), she told me that it is pattern baldness (without any inspection) and I cannot do much about it. She suggested that I can try minoxidil but it has 33% effectiveness.

It is way too difficult to get a referral for a specialist ( I mean I had Eustachian Tube Dysfunction and I had to wait for about 4 months to get my first referral to ENT which was very much useless and another 6 months to get a second referral for another ENT).

I will try to show more urgency and hopefully get referred to a specialist.

I tried Minox before but it was not helping me much and it seems that with minox there is the risk of losing all of your hairs if you stop the medication.
