    Question Donor scar question

Let me start by saying, all-in-all, I'm okay with my donor scar. It's rather thin and about the width of a sharpie line, which is what I was told it would be. But it seems as though the area AROUND the scar itself is not growing hair back? What I mean is the part of the hair that was cut for the surgery...not just the actual scar...is still absent of much hair. It's been 2 1/2 months. Now I cut my hair with a #3 clippers which actually may have been a bit too short right now as the scar hasn't faded completely. But like I said, I'm okay with it. Just wondering if its normal for the hair around the scar to not grow back. Was it shocked during the transplant perhaps?

It is not as common to get shock in the donor area, but it is possible. You will need to wait more than 2 1/2 months to determine if this is permanent or temporary. I have had a few patients who experienced this type of shock loss in the donor area. Luckily, in all those cases the situation was temporary. Hang in there, be patient and most likely the hair will grow back. Using Rogaine or laser treatments may speed up the regrowth process of the shocked hairs.
