    Rogaine & Shedding

I have been using rogaine for over a month and I'm still experiencing shedding. Is this normal? How long should this shedding occur?

Also, I had read that shedding is part of the hair growth process, but is there a possibility that hair sheds and No new hair grows? Could I lose hair and not grow any?

    thanks, ube

It varies person to person on hair growth and when the shedding will stop.
If your still shedding by the 3rd month with no hair growth i would stop taking it.
You say, but is there a possibility that hair sheds and No new hair grows? Could I lose hair and not grow any?

Yes thats a possiblity. I read a thread on here where alot of people talked about this.

    Now on the positive side.
I know a guy whose familiy has a history of hair loss.
He was taking Rogain, Retin A and Propecia.
He would first take the Retin A and let it dry for 10 minutes.
Then he would use the Rogaine on the hair.
He had a full set of hair.
But when he stopped taking the Rogain, Retin A and Propecia his hair would fall out.
So i have seen this stuff work.
I'v read Dr Lee has a product where its minoxidil and Retin A combined in 1.
They say the Retin A helps absorb the minoxidil better.

You are right, Dan70 - the Rogaine is being absorbed better because Retin-A is one of the best chemical exfoliants available. Retin-A (Vitamin A in its purest form) works by helping skin get rid of dead cells, thereby helping the topical agent (Rogaine) get absorbed much better without the barrier of dead surface skin cells. Good luck, Ube.

B Stilwell, should use the Retin A separately from the minoxidil.
Like take the Retin A first and let it dry for 10 minutes then use the Rogaine.
I"v heard its better to do it like this.
Dr Lee claims its better to use the Retin A and minoxidil together in his product.
What have you heard is the best way?

Use caution when applying Retin-A. If you use it alone, (separately from the Minoxidil) I wouldn't use it daily because it could be too caustic, and cause your scalp to peel. I think the best solution is to use it in combination with the minoxidil. This way, it simplifies the process because you have a 2 -in-1 product. The combination of Retin-A and Minoxidil helps to provide exfoliation and easy access for the minoxidil to get thru the scalp - safely.
