I agree and disagree... I agree that the modern scientific method is the best route to finding a cure or at least better treatments. Unfortunately finding a cure or better treatments isn't much of a priority as far as expensive formal research goes. Related to a breakthrough being impossible without the "scientific method", consider the number of important breakthroughs, both scientific and medical that were accidental:

    Five Accidental Medical Breakthroughs

Ten Accidental Discoveries that generated wealth.

    Some more accidental discoveries.

Somewhere between modern scientific method and "accident", is the community of men who inherited MPB, have miniaturizing hair, don't want to go bald, and follow the existing paltry research. I think it's great when action is taken by treating their hair with safe and legal products, and forum members post their progress photos in the forums.

Trust me, even the experts and researchers need help. I remember when I lived in the LA area of California. I met a well-known film producer who, as a part of his routine, regularly asked people he met during his day if they have any stories. "The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources." -Albert Einstein

I have seen several guys come through Dr. Cole's office with baldness on their father and mother's side. One guy was meticulously structured like Adrian Monk. He took Propecia, used Rogaine as well as rotated Nioxin, Nizoral, and Hair Cycle shampoo. He had some hair transplant work, but not a lot and his hair at 40 looked very healthy and only minimally thin and receded.

Just as Sharon Keene MD reported in the hair transplant trade magazine, MPB is not an absolute hair death sentence and there is flexibility to influence the genetic MPB tendency toward a healthier, fuller head of hair.
