Default Sprouts in graft area: they'll fall out?

    Hey all,

Just had my first HT two weeks ago, and all is well. Got my sutures from the donor area removed today, actually.

In my graft area, I still have little sprouts from the donor area. It looks like my hair line was given a buzz cut that is starting to grow back in.

Should I expect these little sprouts in my graft area to fall out, then they'll start to grow back in around 4 months or so? It seems like these little sprouts are growing already even before falling out.

Thanks very much for your input.

    Harry,

Most of the graft stubbles come out with the crusts when they fall off. Some of the graft stubble will continue to grow but usually a smaller percent. When the transplanted hair falls out, the underlying transplanted follicles will enter telogen and rest for approximately three months. Then the regrowth starts and you will be able to visually see your new hair coming through.

    The hard part is waiting!

Best wishes to you in the coming months.

    Cool; thanks, Gillenator.

Another little concern of mine: my graft area is looking kind of red. Normal?

    Harry,

It's not uncommon for the redness but should dissipate soon. Sometimes the recipient area can get a bit red if the crusts are left too long. It sounds like yours is pretty cleaned up.
