If this turns out to be legitimate it would of course be great but it doesn't look like there's any evidence yet. If they are making the outlandish claims about how it could prevent AIDS transmission it looks very likely that they're prone to just throwing out all kinds of scientifically unsupported claims.
Also, I find the stuff about air conditioning and auto repair in his Wikipedia entry to be strange. Hard to know if this is some kind of snafu in the entry or if he really is focused on these activities that are really far outside of the realm of biotechnology:
"His major contributions have been in the indigenously developed non-hormonal polymer based injectable male contraceptive (RISUG) for which the Final Phase-III Clinical trials are underway; Problem-solving at a national level regarding contraceptives in mass usage, especially Copper T; individualized spot air-conditioning system for hospital patients and rehabilitation of the blind, with emphasis on opening automobile repair as an employment avenue."

Of course, everyone knows this. I think this product just blocks the sperm, haven't read up on it though. What I meant was, you will still ejaculate semen minus the sperm and it would feel the same.

I think I understand why it will be an effective contraceptive but I don't see how it will have any effects for prostate or hair? In the article they not only say "prevent" but also "regenerate". This is a big claim. Even approved medications do not claim to regenerate.

this is how it works
http://www.google.com/patents/WO2013124865A1?cl=en
basically, they would use the delivery system created by the contraceptive to deliver finasteride in a more effective way. a means of taking finasteride without the side effects, if it works the way it should, by delivering it directly to the prostate via nanoparticles. so, no, not a cure, but not bad. RISUG-PH is in animal stage testing now. the contraceptive aspect is great too, it basically kills sperm in the vas deferens with a safe polymer, and is reversible with another injection.

Right. I still do not understand the mechanism of action of the drug. I don't know how inhibiting sperm synthesis in the testicle will somehow fix the alopecia.

Yeah it would be nice to know more , hopefully they aren't just making stupid claims to draw attention

ROFL....yeah me neither!
BTW, I actually went to a seminar this year regarding contraception and they briefly discussed this methods which is coming in the near future. TBH though, I have no idea how this could have any effect on MPB! It's a sensationalist article with no scientific backing.
