How long after transplant is it safe to travel?
Just wondering after I've had my surgery I am going to be flying home & I was planning on having a week at home. I was then going to be going away on holiday so I can avoid people I know for as long as possible.
Is it safe to do so say7/8/9 days after surgery? I would be staying out of the sun
Thanks

Well I travelled the day after mine, once my follow up had been done.

Next day, as long as you don't bump you head while travelling.

A patient who flew to our office from out of state told me a woman dropped her suitcase on his head from the overhead compartment. Fortunately it was before his surgery. It's easy to bang you head on the overhead compartment as well, especially if you're tall. Try to be careful. If you do bang your head, it's not the end of the world. I have done it myself and the grafts grew fine.

You can fly home the next day after surgery so you will be fine to go away on holiday the week afterwards just remember to wear a hat all the time you are in the sun.
The week after surgery the grafts will be secure so you wont have to worry too much.
