    Default Propecia Confusion

When I first heard about Propecia I was excited... then I heard about the sexual side effects and just decided no. I can have sex without hair but not if I can't get the thing up... and I'll be honest, I really love sex. So then I set my sights on getting a HT.

Then I read and hear that its really rare for all that to happen and that it's generally harmless. So I am conflicted. And if it does work does it allow your hair to regrow the way it used to or does it not grow as long and healthy?

I was wondering if there are active forum goers that have used the drug with success. Is Propecia or the hair transplant a better option? Or perhaps both?

Iv had major sides, I awlays found way carry on taking them, I found that its a mind game and don't stress. Iv woken up no erections 6 months later panicked. My girlfriend use work for phizer selling Viagra and told me exactly what to do, stop stressing relax. I watched porn for 40 minutes, bang I restarted my system, on several occasions. Now two years later I take it every other day, the key is to let your body adjust, even if you have to take it low dosage or even every third day still worked.

Do most men actually experience some forms of these sexual side effects?

I'm wondering if I should give it a try or just try for a HT. Part of me thinks I should see what Propecia can do for me first but honestly id go crazy without my libido...

Controlled studies say sexual sides are rare, something around 5% or less. In real life it might be higher. Does not matter because you have 100% chance of balding w/o DHT meds (meaning finasteride/propecia or dutasteride/Avodart) & if you are white you also have a 95% chance of looking lame as a bald guy

Unfortunately you can not get a transplant w/o being on meds because your native hair will continue falling out & eventually you will have isolated transplanted grafts surrounded by baldness. You can get more transplants but you run out of donor hair eventually, there is not near enough to cover a bald head
I had great results on fin (Propecia). You never know until you try. Good luck

Man, you'll never know unless you try it or decide not to at all.

It's a yes or no thing, there isn't a gray area.

The only gray area is after you take it, if you get sides do you stop or continue?

That's it, that's all there is to it.

For what it's worth, I had dysfunction before taking fin, mostly due to such paranoia about my hair combined with an awful back injury. Then I told myself there was nothing wrong with my dick and bam, there was nothing wrong.

Then I started fin.. and my libido went up. Now it's about normal after 5 months. And the trigger point is that... my hair isn't worse - so far I've actually managed to regrow a decent amount of my temple points and thicken my overall hair quality. Here's to hoping the hairline comes around!

Hey mate there is a high chance of sexual issues or libido drop because your cutting out a hormone responsible for regulating your sexual organs. I'd get your hormones tested before you use it, my only advice
Is don't read to much fear mongering. Just be honest with what you want,
But just be weary that dht does more than just make your hair fall out its important for libido and sexual organs. I' have friends that take it without any issues, I personally couldn't function on it so I stopped.

And that's the problem - who controlled the studies you mention?

    For example ...

Gynecomastia, however, was not reported originally as a side effect in the large trial of finasteride 1 mg/day as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia,[4] and it was averred that there is no evidence that this dose causes breast tenderness or enlargement.[7] Nevertheless, several reports have described gynecomastia as a side effect of finasteride even in the lower doses [Table 3]. The time of onset (2-4 months) observed in our patients is generally in agreement with the reported literature, which shows a delay in onset of gynecomastia relative to other sexual-related adverse events.[8] Interestingly, however, when reviewing the reported cases, there is a striking prevalence of unilateral gynecomastia in the lower doses (in contrast to a similar distribution of cases between unilateral and bilateral gynecomastia with the higher doses).[9] Actually, patient 1 is the first reported case of bilateral gynecomastia after treatment with low dose finasteride. Also of importance is the fact that the breast enlargement persisted in patient 1, 10 months following finasteride withdrawal, and in the second patient residual enlargement was observed even six years following drug cessation.

All very interesting. It does make sense though that reducing DHT could cause gynecomastia due to its effect with estrogen..

I think I'm at the point now where I feel like I should at least try it. But what can I realistically expect from it in terms of stopping the loss and hopefully regrowth? Basically, assuming no bad sides how long should one take it before making the decision to continue using it or move on?

Also, would I need to see a dermatologist or a regular doctor to go about getting it? I notice several sites floating around the net have it without a script. Are any of these reliable and do any of you use products from such sites?

Yes gyno is possible. However fin has been around a long time and tested on 10s of thousands of men by many different groups, it rly is nothing, to most guys it is like candy
(Also hair loss is a worse cosmetic problem than gyno TBH)

The biggest problem w/ fin....it is too weak
