    Default Dutasteride and paternity.

    Hello everybody,

I'm a 34 years hair loss veteran, more than 5 years taking Avodart. I want to be father, I know it remains in blood about a month if I've to leave it.

Has anybody tried to be father taking dut?. I've done analysis and everything's okay.

I thank you in advance for your comments.

    All the best :')

Thanks a lot lilpauly and apologies for my huge delay. I know also people who take fin and became father but I mean, DUT not fin.

I already know it's dangerous but I wanted to know your opinion.

    Thanks in advance

You CAN have kids on dut, it is possible. But, It would probably be best if you got off dut when trying to conceive.

You should go to your doctor for sperm analysis, blood tests etc...Then get off the drug, re-test 6-12months see if things change

If you've had an analysis and sperm volume, morphology, and motility is all good then that sounds positive. I've read that it can take 6 months or more to get totally out of the system. If you were considering stopping to get it out of your system, maybe switching to fin as the dut gets out of the body and then possibly quit fin for the period while you are focusing on conceiving. Then after conception, get back on dut. ...well this is what I'm considering doing when I eventually want to have kids.

There two separate issues in regards to fathering children while on dut or fin. They are the effect the drugs on sperm and semen, and also the effect on a developing fetus. The dut might decrease the amount of semen or sperm you produce, which could make it more difficult to conceive, but but it doesn't alter the genetic material, so you don't need to worry about about birth defects caused by dut affected semen. On the other hand though, there are problems when a male fetus is exposed to dut or fin. If you continue having sex after the baby is conceived you might be exposing him to dut through trace amounts in your ejaculate. Whether or not the amount of dut carried in ejaculate is significant enough to cause problems is still an open question I believe, but I think they recommend using a condom as a precaution regardless.
