True or false, natural hairlines are 45-50 fu's per sq cm
Hello, while doing a bit of browsing on the internet I came across
An anecdotal study presented by Coalition member Dr. Sharon Keene of AZ suggests that natural hairline density may be only around 45-50 FU/cm2. She presented an impressive power point presentation on this at the annual 2008 ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons) conference in Montreal.
Is this true? I ask because I am hoping to get a HT next May or June and do not want to go above anything beyond 50fu's/cm2, or allow a surgeon to if that is the actual density of hairlines in none-MPB sufferers. Not only would I look a bit weird, but I would be wasting finite donor hair in the process for future purposes.

that number is usually noted as the density at which thinning is usually not perceived

That sounds more like the average density for most individuals however native density can vary between individuals and even vary throughout the scalp.
If the surgeon can attain 50% of original native density, then the area should appear restored.
The goal of surgical hair restoration is to attain the "illusion" of coverage.
