Question about hair diameter
I just had a quick question, wanted to see if anyone could answer it. Are all of the hairs on our head the same width? I have heard that we have vellus hairs on the very front of our hairline, but what about the rest of our head?

No, all the hairs on a persons head are not the same diameter. In most cases the hairs at the hairline are finer than other areas. Also, in some people the hair just above the ears and in the lower neck area have a smaller diameter. Just as patients can have varying follicular densities (number of follicles per sq cm ) in different areas of the scalp, they may varying hair diameters. In patients who are going through the genetic hair loss process the hairs always become very thin/fine before they actually fall out.
