How deep in the scalp is the hair follicle?
Does anyone know, and could someone provide a link to where this is talked about? Also, at what length does the hair follicle move up during telogen, like how close to the top of the scalp?
Any info much appreciated!

Follicle depth varies from person to person, but I believe during telogen the bottom 2/3 moves up to where the top 2/3 is. Does your question relate to determining derma roller needle length? Just a guess.

Hi, thanks for your answer. Yes, I am asking in relation to dermarolling.
What would be the closest you have seen numbers wise, 3-4mm into the scalp? Does that mean @ telogen phase, for this particular follicle, it would move up to 2 mm?
A little confused. Thanks for your feedback!

If it were me doing dermarolling, I would use a .5 mm needle length.
We had a repair patient recently who had the worst hairline recently grafted by another doctor Dr. Cole has seen in 10 years. The hairline was grafted 5 cm above the glabella, straight across, low density with multiple hair grafts (up to fours) right on the hairline. The patient was stunned when it began to grow in and attempted to eliminate the hairs by having them lasered without much success. Dr. Cole had to surgically remove the grafts. To me this illustrates how difficult it is to actually kill hair follicles. That said as MPB sufferers, we are conditioned to think hair growth is fragile. Even knowing this, I would personally be careful with longer needles not to damage existing hair growth, even though it is unlikely. I just like to play it safe with what thin coverage I have. That's my personal observation and opinion.

About 4 mm deep. Keep in mind that an derma roller over 1 mm is going to be down right painfull.
