    Default S-Equol

Whatever happened to s-equol? There was a lot of "hype" about it a few months ago, including companies who were making s-equol pills, then it all just died down again?

What happened? Has there been new research showing that it won't be as effective as originally promised? Are companies still planning on manufacturing s-equol supplements?

We are waiting for Nature Made to launch the product. I believe it is set to launch in southern California sometime between now and the end of 2103 and then nationally in the first quarter of 2014.

I'm not a doctor, but I agree that we should be skeptical.

Especially since we know that blocking almost all DHT production with Finasteride doesn't "cure" hair loss either (or even work all that well on some people).

Still, it would be interesting to see what comes out of this product once people start using it. And I'll keep my fingers crossed

I agree, we may as well try it.

For maintenance, my real hope lies in CB...because it has solid anti-inflammatory properties as well, DHT is not the sole reason for hair loss and we need to address all avenues to completely stop loss long term.

....Agreed that there is no evidence s-equol works for MPB nor has the Nature Made product been tested as a possible remedy for mpb. There is definitely evidence, both in vivo and in vitro, that s-equol: 1) strongly binds to DHT ; and 2) binds to the estrogen B receptor site. Some possible reasons why s-equol may have more potential than finesteride are: 1) Unlike finesteride, it does not alter horomonal levels thus there are no know side effects; 2) In addition, to it's neutralizing effect on DHT, it may act as a beneficial growth agent due to the fact that it also binds to estrogen B receptors in the scalp and follicles 3) 50 to 60% of Asians, who have a lower incidence of MPB produce s-equol naturally. 4) It has several beneficial side effects.

Propecia does not even come close to stopping all DHT. I think propecia and DUT dont stop MPB simply because the sensitivity aspect of MPB is still at play and I personally think that T is important in men that are going bald and not just DHT that is if DUT or anything even completely stops DHT
