    Default 24yo NW2 treatment opinion

    Hey guys,

I'm 24 years old and really need some advice on dealing with my hair situation.
Family background - both grandad's have/had fine NW3ish fine hair in their 70s/80s. On my dad's side he's NW2ish at 56, one uncle NW7, 2 other uncles NW1-2ish - all in their 50s. On mums side no uncles.

    Here's my story:
Mid 2011 - First noticed slight recession didn't think too much about it, as it wasn't too bad.
September 2012 - March 2013 - I was under a huge amount of psychological stress, around which time I noticed hair fall on my desk at work and also in the shower. Hair fall seemed to contain a roughly even distribution of thick/thin and long/short hairs, with some having white bulbs on the end though not all.
May 2013 - Saw the derm who looked at me and said I probably had a combination of 'mild' mpb and possibly some telogen effluvium. Said don't do anything and come back in 3 months
August 2013 - Returned to derm. I said anecdotally I have reduced my stress and have noticed less hair fall throughout the day (maybe a hair or two on my desk) and 10/15 in the shower and also on pillow at night. These still seem to be of almost even distribution of thick/thin and long/short but very rarely have a white bulb anymore.
Derm said I have seborrheic dermatitis and recommended sebizole (ketoconazole) 2% 2/3x per week and selsun gold 1/2x per week. Said he didn't think my hair was too bad, there 'was nothing wrong with me' (my blood test results all came back perfect) and to come back in 6 months, in which case he had 2 options left (he mentioned minox & fin).
September 2013 - I've been on these shampoos a month and have noticed a very minor decline in shedding (sometimes I go a day without any on my desk) but whether they are just falling off the edge who knows. During this time I have also quit masturbating, because I heard this can have an effect. After a few weeks so far I haven't noticed any change in my hair (or my mild acne for that matter), but I am bit less tired in general.

My question is, I think it's fairly obvious I am receding, and I don't want to let it get any worse. Does this diagnosis from the derm seem accurate? Would minox alone help my hairline? I don't think I have any qualms about getting on fin if that's the solution - have read countless articles/posts on the matter and don't think I will really know how I'll react until I try it.
I just don't want to be waiting another 6 months, to find out I should get on fin, when I could do that now and lose 6 months less hair.

I should also mention, I am using azealic acid currently for treating my mild acne. I have read on a few sites that this may be useful as a DHT inhibitor in the scalp, so for the last few days have started applying it 2x per day on my front hairline as I figure it can't hurt. Would you recommend this?

Thank you all for your help.

    Nelson

I should also mention, I'm not whether any stress related hair loss is completely gone.

If I scruff (for lack of a better word) the back and sides (around to my ear) for a few seconds, I often get about 2-5 reasonably long (almost full length, never tiny) hairs fall out with no white bulb on the end. From my understanding, this is the area where I should expect the least amount of shedding from mpb.

Is this a symptom of mpb or possibly telogen effluvium/stress related?

    Thanks again.
