Yeah your hair loss isn't as bad as many on here. At least you made it to your 50's with no more than crown loss, which you could probably even get back with just minoxidil. Most of us here have been dealing with this crap since our early 20's, so some might get offended when somebody a little older comes in here complaining about a little crown loss.

Butttttt, this is a hair loss forum, so you should be welcome here no matter what degree of hair loss you have.

I wouldn't even mess with a transplant with just that small amount of crown loss. Finasteride or at the very least try minox on your crown.

Is minoxidil the same as Rogain?

It's not getting worse but it still bugs me. When I grow my hair longer it's easy enough to cover up this spot.

Does anyone know a good doctor in the Northern, NJ area who could do a hair transplant? About how much would it cost to correct my spot? Any suggestions?

    Thanks
Dang, I wish I had your hair!! Anyway, try Rogaine. It may thicken things up a bit. Later you may want to try an ACell/PRP stand alone treatment. It won't grow new hair but in some patients, it thickens the hair shaft diameter of existing hair.

all the prp patients before and after shots just look like they combed it.
The before is wet and clumpy and the after is just combed over.

As for you at 53 just use FIN the sides wont even be relevant.
I WISH I could have that head of hair now and Im half your age. FIN sides were to strong for me tho.

I uploaded a closeup image so you can see the hair shafts emerging from the scalp. It's obvious that the hair shaft diameter has increased. The HairCheck numbers confirmed a dramatic increase in hair mass. Our patient is very happy and can see a huge difference. He continues to have stand-alone ACell/PRP treatments every year. True, not everyone gets this level of result. One added note, this patient had been on Avodart for 8 years prior to his ACell/PRP treatment. He continues to take Avodart and that may be a factor in his great result.

    Note:
You can magnify the image by clicking on it to better see the emerging hair shafts.

The proven medications are Propecia and Rogaine - or their generic equivalents. You need to talk to your doctor about Propecia or generic Finasteride because a script is needed to get it. Rogaine or generic Minoxidil is available OTC. However Rogaine alone can only do so much. For your best chances of filling that spot in, it is best to use both Propecia and Rogaine.

Also ask your doctor for a script for Nizoral shampoo and use it once a week in place of your regular shampoo.

While treating your hair loss, you can easily conceal that spot with Dermmatch.

Don't be too worried about those who complain about your post. Just because you are over 50 that does not mean it doesn't bother you. Since it does bother you, go speak with your doctor. And please read the information about men's hair loss in this link:

Don't DHT levels fall off with age...at 53, is he really going to benefit from fin?

As for the immediate reactions, come on guys, yes he doesn't have the degree of hair loss people on this site are used to, but it's affecting his mental well being which is something were all familiar with. Cut him some slack

Yeah they are not relevant, if you do suffer from ED it wont matter because most likely you are using you D anyway. LOL
