Finasteride 5 mg Question

Hello everyone

I have 5 mg pills buti have always just used the 1mg propecia tablets.

Am I supposed to cut up the 5 mg tablets in some way?

I normally take propecia one pill every other day

I started doing this too about a month ago. Just cut the 5mg pills into fourths (I use a sharp knife or you can use a pill cutter).

One more question: are you implying that one quarter of the generic 5mg pill equals to 1 propecia pill in terms of amount of finasteride to take?

Because I was doing one propecia pill every other day and I'd like to continue that way.

When you split the 5mg pill into fourths it will be in 1.25 pieces, but there will be some crumbling when you split the pill, so it will be really close to the dose of 1mg that you were using before. I have read about many people splitting the pills like this.

I don't think anyone can say for sure if the active ingredient Finasteride is distributed evenly throughout the tablet. Some say it is and some say no but either way it shouldn't make too much of a difference. as long as you are getting some in your body is what matters.

Just use a pill cutter and cut into fourths. This is what I do, but I take it every day. You are taking it EOD, so your dose is less than the prescribed amount anyway. Plus like somebody already mentioned, you are losing some of the pill during the cutting process.
