How close are we? Really?
Hello. I am new. So sorry for the stupid question but I don't even know the name of any drug/treatment and you all seem to be very well informed.
As someone completely ignorant of this area all my expose is via the press with headlines like 'cure in 2 years' which seem to go by without said cure. Are all these bogus? Is there a clear path to a cure but it's slow going or is it a case of we don't know where a cure would come from?
Is it still just a case of using that shampoo, regaine, or has it moved beyond that?
Thanks

Pretty much, lol, that and finasteride. Not a lot else out there man, most of everything else released has turned out to be duds or at best just as good with similer sides.
There are however plenty of potential treatment in the furture. Check out donor regeneration and CB-03-01 for starters and go from there.
I think 5 years may actually be realistic for something new.

Is regaine a scam or does it actually work? It seems a lot of men struggle with hairloss so my assumption is that it's effectiveness is minimum at best.

This question has been pounded so many times, it's not even funny.
Go and read on the American hairloss association.

I think Regaine is the UK version of Rogaine. Isn't it? It's Minoxidil. So it isn't a scam. But Minoxidil doesn't do wonders for many.

No one knows. not even the scientists working on a treatment...
btw, we are not taking about a cure, but about a better treatment, that's it... a cure is many years away......a treatment maybe less..
when a treatment will be released, i will wake you up

The real cure will be hair cloning.
But we can only hope that tsuji labs will give us full heads of hair in about 10 years..

Horse in the race..
Follica - Wounding the skin and forming new skin with follicles
Nigam/Gho - Multiplying via splitting follicles and replanting "doubling"
Cosmo - Topical med like finasteride with no sides
Cell Theropy - Using stem cells to rejuvinate or grow new follicles
Hair multiplication -Growing hairs in lab for transplant, unlimited donor.
Histogen - Similer to cell theropy but less risky?
Step one would be for any one of the contenders to prove a NW7 to NW1 conversion with good density and equal quailty hair to the rest of the scalp is possible.
Any steps after that would be to do with cost, availabilty and safety.

Guys, the answer he's looking for:
We don't know.

I think this is a safe estimate to make assuming all listed treatments come to fruition:
2013-2016: Finasteride & Minoxidil
2017-2020: CB-03-01, Histogen's HSC, Replicel, Follica
2021-2025: Tsuji Lab (True Hair multiplication)
2025 & Beyond: Luminescent hair
