Default Post opp Hairs Falling out.

    Hi Everyone,

I shed these hair about 3 days post op, and I have continued to see hair like this. Is this normal? or did I lose these hairs?

    LCP,

It looks just like shed grafts with the crusts attached. This is very normal.

What is not normal is for the crusting to come off so early at three days post-op. Usually it takes a good solid week to ten days for this to happen.

Are you by chance removing them by rubbing them off? Is there any slight surface bleeding after these have come off?

Possibly you have been spraying the recipient area postop?

    Sorry for the late reply.

I wouldnt say rubbing, but light grazing of my hand over the hairs. I didnt see a stream of blood or anything. I would say very rarely that after a shower a scab might bleed, but again it wasnt a stream, it was maybe a dot of blood.

Also, Ive started to shed the vast majority of the transplanted hairs now, it is normal to see a kink in the hair?

Well that's good to hear. I think you will be just fine and probably in another week or so those spots will be completely healed. BTW, you can purchase a very cheap bottle of saline at your local pharmacy or discount store and spray the area several times daily to facilitate the healing but at this point, time alone should take care of it.

And yes a fair number of patients experience the kinky hair shafts and regrowth. Even during the next growth cycle the hair shafts can be kinky in texture, but they do resolve with time.

Shedding of the grafts is a good sign and those transplanted follicles will rest and then the best is yet to come, the regrowth and transformation.
