No one's personal opinion on here is better than a medical professional's. At your age, I think it's wise to consult a specialist and follow their guidance. Obviously, there isn't a magic age where everyone is "fully-matured" - whatever that means.

I started taking Fin at 17.5 yrs old, but I was done with puberty (beard, chest hair and whatnot). I had a barely noticeable ache in my testicle on the first day and also a fluttery feeling in my prostate area (was because prostate was getting smaller due to fin) and after about 2-3 days it was all gone. Sometimes I question if it's even working due to lack of side effects. I've only been using Fin for 40 days tho.

You could use topical RU58841, which is as/more effective than finasteride and has no side effects. It prevents androgen binding at androgen receptor so DHT and others can't cause any harm.

If I was you .. I wouldn't use fin/dut for now ... wait to be fully done with puberty.

I'm 18 and in the same boat as you except I have to shave twice a day to stay smooth.

            I ordered Proscar off inhousepharmacy.

I haven't taken it yet since it hasn't arrived. I'm already aware of all the side effects, and none are as bad or irreversible as hair loss so I'm fine with those.

Like you, the only thing I don't know is if it will have any effect on my development. I'm mostly worried about height (barely standing at 5'9), facial structure and musculature.

My uncle is not on finasteride but he got gyno, and he had it taken care of pretty much hassle free.

I don't think anyone has the "right looks" for balding. Some people might look better bald (bodybuilders for example) than others, but everyone looks best with hair, no exceptions. I think this is even more crucial at our young age. Imagine we lose our hair and go slick bald in the next few years. I don't know about you, but I'm very vain and have always been superficial and I'm not about to settle for average girls.

I'm sure that if an older adult with a career is balding, surrounded by other men also balding, he can still be very successful with women. But for 18 year old's, hair loss is a whole different game, with higher risks.

So I personally am not worried about the sexual sides, mostly because of their rarity.

Besides, seems like most of the sides people complain about are watery semen, loss of libido and difficulty getting hard. These seem pretty silly to me and the last two are probably due to other factors. I know I'm not walking around with a raging boner if I'm stressed out or anxious about exams or work.

As for the extremely rare "long-term" sides, I'm certain that if they NEVER clear up again it doesn't mean you're "basically castrated". There are other medications and treatments that can help you get a boner.

Treatment might be a pain in the ass, but Finasteride wont make me NEVER GET A HARD D*** AGAIN as many people seem to believe.

This is all just my speculation and my own reasoning as to why I will be taking fin.

Yeah, bruh. Started over 6 months ago at NW1.5 or NW2 at age 25. Saw two docs to confirm my MPB and get blood tests. Then I started self-medicating for the sake of convenience.

Early I had some temporary sides like irritable nipples and prostate ache which went away. Currently, I think I have a bit of fatigue and I think I'm not as horny (hard to gauge), but I can still function in all aspects of life.

Hair loss is a bit worse, but it's still pretty early on. Also, I added minox 1 month ago and I'm shedding like loco. I'm at the point where I'm going to stay the course and hope for the best.
