I am not sure if my finpecia side effects are psychological or real or both.
I started taking 0.25 g tablets of finpecia 2 weeks ago.
I took a dose on the first day and constantly watched porn right away to see if there was anything wrong. The next day my erection didn't feel as hard and I couldn't really maintain. I am still able to ejaculate though.
On the fourth day I took another dose and I was so fixated on side effects and how I couldn't get as hard so I stopped for a week but then I took another dose today.
At this point I basically force myself to watch porn just to check up and it still doesn't feel as hard and I can't maintain it for a long time either.
I really don't know if this is psychological or real but I wish it was psychological because it does reduces the itchiness in my scalp but the side effects feel very real to me.
I am a very analytical person and I usually don't psych myself out or am a hypochondriac but this is scary and I am not sure if I should try to "power through" or stop being it goes to worse.
I can't believe I am dealing with this when taking only 0.25g trying to be extra careful. The side effects really isn't too bad and I think it should go away if I give it a month if I quit but then I would lose hair but if I don't quit it then the side effects can get worse.
Edit
Besides a low libido, softer erections, I haven't felt any brain fog or weaker muscles, something I was personally concerned about because I train almost half as hard as a pro athlete. In fact it really motivates me that because I feel confident about the itching going away but I am just concerned about sexual side effects.

1) Are you getting morning erections?
2) Are you getting spontaneous erections?
3) Do you experience random increase in sexual desire as frequently as you did pre-finasteride?
4) Have you completed and passed "the stamp test"? (google it)
If you answered yes to the above questions then you are not suffering from side effects associated with finasteride.
However, I'm not a doctor and I suggest you see your own to find out if you are suffering from sides.
Hope this helps.
Best.

Upgrade to better porn!!
Not serious (but do it anyways).
Keep updating on how your sides go, I'm 18 and just ordered Proscar online.
How old are you?

^^^ stupid advice.
How about giving up porn forever, you'll feel a lot better.

Hi UK. To answer your questions:
A week before I took finasteride I tried to keep a rough check of how my libido was doing and I couldn't remember the last time I had morning erections in the last 2 years but that may be due to my abnormal sleeping habits because I work and school. I and did not even know that it was normal to have morning erections every day. I guess my libido was already low. However, it does feel hard when I check in the morning but it isn't a full blown erection.
Actually haven't gotten spontaneous erections in a while either. My sleep schedule has only been a bit normal within the last month. I really think the frequent days of all nighters from taking tough science classes exacerbated my hair loss so now I am not working as hard as I use to. I am 22 now btw.

I'd do the stamp test to know for sure, try & sort your sleeping patterns out and quit the porn - for good, it will do you a world of good.
The fact you're taking finasteride will make it harder for your body to recover from the damage done from masturbation, DHT is partially responsible for repairing and maintaining the ultrastructure of your penis.

I will try the stamp test.
What do you mean by recovering from the damage done from masturbation. Do you mean I just shouldn't watch porn. If I don't masturbate, how do I know if my penis is still working.

For some men the side effects are very real. For some men the side effects are mentally trigger out of fear of this medication. The majority of men do not experience side effects at all from this medication. Most men who do experience side effects recover from them after they stop the medication. Regardless of the reason, if you are experiencing side effects from this medication you should stop taking it immediately.

Damage done from masturbation ? Ejaculating is one of the healthiest things you can do for both your mind and your body. There are countless scientific studies that indicate normal sexual habits improve prostate health, lower the risk of certain autoimmune deceases and a host of other health issues.
Locke999, I promise you that since you are focussing on the possibility of not being able to maintain a firm erection is the reason you are having some difficulties. It's called performance anxiety and it is a very real phenomenon.

I personally know a doctor who treats men with this condition. The information he shares is fascinating.
