we're you identical, your genes would be the same, but since you're fraternal you will have different genes so you have the aggressive balding gene unlike your brother. To put it simply anyways

That's awful! Hell, I don't really know what you can do at age 17, except wait it out and hope it doesn't get any worse. You're currently too young for finasteride. Ever consider getting a badass buzz cut?

Is it too young for him to use minoxidil and Keto shampoo? There has got to be something he can do to slow this down.

tbh, If I was you, I would start finasteride even though lots of people say not old enough. I started finasteride like 2 weeks ago, best decision ever made and I am 17.5 years old. I was pretty much done with puberty at this point ( got chest hair, full beard etc.. ) so I doubted finasteride would have a negative effect on my "growing up". Propecia is approved for 18 to 65, not much is going to change in 1 year unless you hit puberty quite late. But for you to have such a receding hairline at age 17 .. you must of hit puberty quite early too. Also I doubt you will get any side effects from finasteride since you are young, your DHT levels will be really high. Even when finasteride reduces DHT by ~70% you should still have enough DHT to keep other stuff functioning as normal e.g. erections. Atleast that was the case with me. Finasteride will stop your hair getting worse. You can add minox to get some regrowth. Good luck your decision, don't leave it till too late, you do have a good chance of getting some regrowth from fin alone.
