Lightbulb Proposal for BaldTruthTalk makeover: Reddit-style w/ "Karma" & Up/Down Voting System

I'm not a pro when it comes to web design/programming, so I don't know if this is possible, but if it is, I think it's seriously worth considering.

I'm sure many of you know about Reddit. The great thing about Reddit-style forums are the up-/down-voting karma system. If there was a way to add this type of system to BTT, I think it would enhance the user experience exponentially.

As a 22 year old Norwood 5 most likely going on 6-7, the only section of this forum I'm concerned about is Cutting-edge / Future Treatments. The thing is, it's a real pain in the ass to sift through all the arguing/drama/BS in the comments for relevant information that is actually significant or adds to the discussion.

An example in the future treatments' section that you see a lot:
    1. OP starts thread "New Treatment using WKSL-019243 isomer?"
    2. Someone says its BS
    3. Someone else says wait, you never know.
    4. Someone bitches about wanting to buy some ASAP.
    5. BS off topic conversation happens
    6. Thread gets views 100s of pages worth of comments and 1000s of views.
    7. Competent user sets things straight with science on comment page 29/118.
    8. More comments, some relevant other BS due to comment/view publicity.

This is the up/down vote system ettiquette from Reddit:
"If you think something contributes to conversation, upvote it. If you think it does not contribute...or is off-topic...downvote it."

This way, the most relevant comments and threads are up to the top.

    Opinions?

The threads are already sorted in recency of activity ("relevance") by getting bumped when a new post occurs on it.

Unfortunately, anything treatment-related moves at a snail's pace in reality. Most activity on these forums is people learning to cope with this shitty condition.
