Default Over-useage of Hair Dye speeds up MPB???

    Hey guys,

Is it possible that the over-useage of hair dye can speed up the male pattern baldness process? When my friend was younger he used to dye his hair frequent enough and now he is thinning and has a receeding hairline at the age of 21. I also dyed my hair alot when i was younger, too much to be honest. When i was 15 i had a bit of an accident with hair dye, i dyed my hair about 4 times in the space of 1 week because i wasnt happy with the colour and ever since then my hair has been gradually thinning and receeding. I am now 20 with a reeceeding hairline and a bit of thinning. So i am fairly sure that the over-useage of hair dye can possibly speed up the Male Pattern Baldness process???

I doubt it but anything is possible.

It's more likely that you've just been overthinking it and found one common hair related thing between yourself and another receder and are blaming it. Probably just a coincidence, and not even a big one.

I don't think so .. But, teasing ones hair in any way is not good for it.

I would think that if some damage was done, it would be more temporary in nature as opposed to hereditary DHT induced miniaturization.
Dr. Keene has published identical twin studies in a doctor to doctor publication indicating hair straighteners and dyes can have a negative effect on healthy hair growth. Personally I need every hair on my head and more, yet I continue to make careful use of hair dyes.

i definitely still think that the over-useage or bad useage of hair dye can speed up or trigger MPB in a person who has the MPB genes in their blood. What do ye guys think???

    I doubt it.

Lets use a single hair for an example. This hair was thick and healthy before the dye was used. After using the dye, it damaged the hair and it fell out. The dermal papilla or w.e would probably now go in a resting phase, reheal and then regrow. I do think of damage caused by stuff like hair straighteners or dye as reversible.

There are some dyes that have ingredients that are harsh on the hair follicle and may cause hair loss. There are many newer dyes available that are more organic and probably cause much less damage.

Just to put things in perspective, we had a patient in two weeks ago who had a hairline grafted at another clinic that was straight across. His hairline had twos, threes and even four hair grafts right on the edge. He was shocked when the hair grew in and had a couple of laser hair removal treatments. Even intentional hair follicle death by laser wasn't that effective. Dr. Cole surgically removed the grafts.

Below is a photo of one of the grafts Dr. Cole removed.
