Please view my photo, serious shedding, need advice to where to start
Guys,
I've had some SERIOUS hair sheds and currently lost >50% of my hair. I'm 29 and these sheds began about 4 years ago.
As much as I want to get on Propecia/Rogaine/etc.. I am in denial that this is typical male pattern baldness.
I believe it's Telogen Effluvium (hair sheds caused by some unknown factor) and I've been taking vitamins for the past month and plan to see if I have any improvements before.
Suprisingly, my hair grew back considerably a few months later. I concluded that I had some type of allergy at the time that caused all those problems.
But now that hair shedding continues. My current photo attached shows that my hair line isn't the typical receding hairline you'd find with MPB. And compared to my photos from 2012, the hairline has actually improved.
It's just the rest of my head that continues to shed profusely. Literally, every morning I run my hands through my head and hairs fall out. LOTS of them. Even when I shampoo. Almost any pressure applied to my head results in hairs falling out.
Anyone else have experience with this type of loss? Any recommendations/suggestions?
Am I really in denial about it being MPB and should I get on meds asap?
I read through your post, why are you taking Accutane? You don't seem like you have acne. I took Accutane years ago (~2007ish) and it was the worst medication I've ever taken. Actually, luckily I haven't taken any other meds but Accutane WILL cause hair loss, along with a mess of other issues.
The odds are overwhelming that you have MPB, not TE. Not everyone balds in exactly the same way, and diffuse loss like yours isn't THAT uncommon. So many guys try to convince themselves that their loss is just TE and that it'll grow on its own, and they sit tight rather than get on meds. Don't make that mistake. Whether to take Propecia or minoxidil is your own decision, but make it NOW while you have some hair to preserve. The odds that your loss is not due to MPB are, in my opinion, tiny.

Enough said. You're wasting time and hair by assuming it's not MPB.
