Hello, as many of you here I suffer from young onset MPB. I start shedding when I was 16 and by the time I was 18 (still in school) my receding hairline was quite evident.
I decided to start using minoxidil and since then I've never been off it. I'm now 25 and depending on the chart I'm either NW3 or NW4, which means that I stand decidedly at the point where one chooses to make a last ditch -heroic- effort to save his hair or that he will decide that he will be known from now on as the "bald man" (and shave the head).
Now let me explain that I haven't used propecia along with minoxidil due to the fact that no long term studies have been done to show *conclusively* what the adverse effects of finasteride may or may not be. However I always was open in using it as long as the indurstry would be close enough to the "next big thing".
In general I'd prefer if I was to use finasteride not to do so for more than half a decade (which is about the time period that its effects have been measured well). So since I'm standing in this verge let me ask, would you think that starting finasteride that late on (NW3->NW4) would make sense? And if it will, do you think that in 5 years time I would be able to be off of it only to replace it with the next "big thing"?
For the last of my questions let me clarify that I know that you -people- are not wizards of sorts to know what will happen in 5 year time, but since you're far more knowledgable to the extant research attempts you can certainly have an educated opinion better than I. If -say- by 2019 we'd have sth to replace Finasteride I'd be all starting it now to bridge the gap, but if the "replacement" comes in 2030 I would be very sceptical before starting finasteride for so long...
So -yeah- let this serve as both my introduction and my question to you guys.
Thanks for your hospitality.
