    HST Using Long-Hair Procedure

I just rechecked my e-mail from Deborah regarding my upcoming procedure on September 2. I plan to grow my hair out to cover it (like they recommend as an alternative to shaving your head). The quote below seems to imply that long hair in back to cover it is fine, but they shave the top anyways. I was planning to comb the top forward to cover the implants, but now I'm not sure if they'll allow that. Anyone know?

During consultation possibilities were presented concerning the way
your hair will be shaved on behalf of your treatment. If agreed we
will shave all hair short on the day of the treatment. May we
emphasize that this contributes to a maximum amount of grafts and
quick recovery. This is never done on women. If you wish to cover the
donor area after the treatment, we advice you to let your hair grow
(for at least 8-10 cm) on the back and sides of your head. Normally
this is sufficient to cover the used donorarea. If during the
treatment it seems that it is insufficient, we’ll discuss the
    possibilities with you.

Just shave all of it and make it easy for yourself. Hair grows back anyway, eventually you'll have a full head of hair.

Yeah just shave it off! At least you will know how you look when in "skinhead" mode. A lot of people can look good with shaved head, but they just never try it. If i were going for an hst i would be shaving my head for sure.

The other benefit of a shaved head is much better penetration of Minoxidil after the HST.

I wonder if RU could be used?

I've seen photos of women who've had HST and they didn't need to shave the recipient. I'm assuming the grafts are going at the front? If so they should be able to sweep the hair back allowing for easy access when implanting. If you're unsure tell them!

Just say you cannot shave your head full stop.

Thanks, GC. Needed to hear that. Yes, the grafts are going in front. If they want, they can even shave the first 1 cm of hairline in order to get the grafts in properly and leave the rest long.

BTW, GC: Did you say you live in London? I'll probably stay there for a few days to look at the sites, if my head isn't too gory.
