My father started to bald at 17 in 1979. What solutions did you have by that time? None people would say here, but it's not true. He started wearing a partial hair piece in 1980 and is still wearing a full one today. He managed to live a decent life, a decent youth, with normal hair, no one ever suspected he was wearing a piece. What I'm saying is that, some people will never be happy, no matter what advances we make.

They expect a "cure" with no downsides. That will never happen.
Well I have been bald for 12 years and these 'cures' have done nothing for me.
Propecia didn't work and cost money and hair transplants cost too much.

I am sure when a proper cure eventually comes out it will be MASSIVE.

The depression that will be lifter will be immense....

as long as the cure isn't ridiculously overpriced that is.

And what do you think the price of a full-blown hair loss cure will be? I'm going to pay 10000€ for 2x2000 grafts FUE and frankly when I look at the cost-benefits, it is worth it.

If the FUE's I'm going to have done will only restore the half front of my scalp for 10000€, my guess is that a complete cure will cost approximately 20000€. If it comes out someday, then the guys who like to complain will bitch about the price. It is never good enough.

This might be the case in the beginning. But in the longer term the price has the potential to go really low because it would not involve surgery. This is the downside of HT that is not going to change anytime soon, if ever: it involves too much of labor and this fact simply skyrockets the price.

Even if a transplantation of cultured follicles was required in the beginning of a future cure, you have only the easiest half of the labor of today's methods that require extraction of the follicles from the donor and transplantation into the recipient.

I don't really understand your point at all.....

The point I made about hair transplant costs was simply saying that they are too expensive and therefore out of reach for most hairloss sufferers.....so of course people are not going to be happy about that as they need a lower cost alternative. To them a hair transplant might as well not exist because they have no chance of getting one. It's all good and well saying 'we should all be happy with what is available to us' but the fact is, it isn't available to us because we don't have the money.

If you want to talk about the matter of future costs of 'fully blown hair loss cures' then who knows, it depends how they work. With a hair transplant, so many man hours go into one which takes its toll on cost....

If the 'fully blown hair loss cure' was a simple injection or pill then I am sure it will cost LESS than having to have to pay someone to work on your head for up to 16 hours. If there was a simple to implement cure that was available to the world then it would have so much demand that selling it for £5,000 will make someone a billionaire overnight.

IMO if a proper cure came out it would be cheaper as no surgery will be involved. So bring on this cure!

now at least we can get some coverage to almost full coverage depends on the case,

If you want to fix you hair loss so badly, you have to work for it and save some money. Money should never be an obstacle, except for lazy people of course. Maybe it's not fair, and HT should be refund by insurrance, but who said life had to ba fair.

I'd trade all my benefits (except dental) for coverage for hair loss.
