    Default Liquid Minox Questions

    Hey fellas,

I've been using rogaine for 5 months (and 1mg fin for 18 months). I'm thinking of starting to use generic liquid minoxidil at night, then the branded rogaine foam in the mornings. Basically, I need to save some money! But I'm unsure about the generic liquid...

How greasy does it make your hair? And what's this I've read about it leaving a 'yellow crust' on your scalp? I have a sensitive scalp so I'm worried about the liquid causing inflammation on my scalp.

Finally, I share a bed with my girlfriend - is the liquid likely to stain or mark the pillows in any way? I'm worried that if she comes over to my side of the bed, then she might come into contact with the minox (and I don't want to get it anywhere near her!!).

    Thanks in advance guys.

Wow Spex, thanks for making the effort! Much appreciated mate

Yeah, my main concern is my girlfriend coming into contact with the liquid at night. I don't care if it's greasy and bad-looking at night. I think I'll buy some generic liquid and give it a (cautious) trial run. I'll continue to use the foam in the mornings.

The other reason I wanted to try the liquid is that I feel the foam doesn't get very good penetration into my scalp. I have longish hair (a little longer than yours, by the look of it), and a diffuse thinner (but not too bad). I feel like I'm having to use a lot of foam to ensure it reaches my scalp. I suppose the liquid would be better for this.

Consequently, I'm getting through a lot of foam (like 2 cans a month). So as a side question - am I using too much? Is it dangerous to over-use this stuff?

    Thanks a million, mate!

    No worries

2 cans a month... In my opinion that's a little overkill, and then some. I dont know about the safety issues as im not a Doc however surprised your hairs not shed a great deal..

Moving fwd 1 can should last you a couple months if only using it once a day.

Haha, yeah that's what I guessed you'd say! I'll try and tone it down a bit going forward. The thing is, quite a lot of foam gets lost in my hair and never reaches the scalp, so I have to apply a lot.

Actually I've not experienced any shedding on minox (not that I've noticed anyway). The same with fin - no noticeable sheds after 18 months. Guess I'm just lucky

Thanks again anyway, you're a true gent.
