Thanks Spex, that's amazing. In your experience of meeting men on the treatment - are your fin gains unusual, or quite common?

      JCM,

Thanks. I feel I have definitely been an good responder to Finasteride. It stopped my hair loss in it's tracks in the mid/crown region for sure and strengthened it all up in those areas thankfully, along with maintaining it for the last 13 + years.

I have a great deal to be thankful for to finasteride and I'm very glad i personally got on it when i did. I have never experienced any side effects, but appreciate some people do get them. I have met and spoken to a number of guys on the drug over the years and generally their experiences were positive. I have certainly come across guys who have been unfortunate and not been able to tolerate the drug. However on the whole i'd say the majority of the feedback has been positive regarding their own experiences with Finasteride, and DUT for that matter. Everyone is different and can respond very differently to all sorts of meds. Im allergic to Penicillin for example, which is quite common.

Is my situation common regarding finasteride? I think it's a fortunate one and i'm a good responder to it but it's not uncommon by any means. I have seen some great responders to it , way better than me, and there are cases online im sure you have seen. Dr Bernsteins site houses some great information on finasteride and results :

In my opinion though guys who respond well to meds tend to get on with their lives and don't frequent message forums as don't need to. It would be great if more did show what can be achieved and share their experiences but the reality is they are out living their lives which is great and i'm sure many others would here if hair loss concerns were diminished.

I hope this helps but remember it's a personal choice and one not to venture into in any rush. Before you do anything i recommend speaking to an informed GP/Doctor on the treatment and best of luck whatever you decide.

      Best regards
      Spex

Thanks Spex, that was an informative non biased reply. I guess I'm on the verge of trying the treatment for myself. I have read many scare stories, but also positive stories too.

I did ask my GP about the drug, and expressed my concern about sides. All he did was say most drugs have sides, and I should "go for it"

For now I'm on the fence still, but feel ill be trying 0.25mg twice per week shortly. Thanks for replying, you're looking great, hope it stays that way for as long as you want mate.

Introducing finasteride is definitely not a bad idea. i wrote a post on it previously. I hope it helps.

Propecia (Finasteride) "Transition" Theory Disclaimer : I am not a Doctor. This is only my opinion based on experience. Take it or leave it. However - A potential tip to help avoid initial side effects from taking Finasteride as i have suggested to several guys and it seems to have really helped them. I made this
