Doing FUE in 2 days: 1 Large vs 2 small?

I notice that Dr. Feriduni's documentation mentions its possible to split your procedure over 2 session a year apart. Has anyone done this? Are the advantages worth it?

1 Large FUE session or 2 minor FUE sessions? Which pros and cons need to be taken into
    consideration?

If the patient ‘s donor yield allows it, Dr. Feriduni Hair Clinic could extract up to 3000‐3500FU through
FUE in a single session (2 successive days). Itis howeverimportantto know the pros and cons ofsuch a
    major FUE session:
    Advantages
 Itis possible to performa fullreconstruction ofthe recipient area in a single FUE session
 The patient needsto undergo only one FUE session
 The patient will pay only once forthemedical costs and travel expenses
 The finalresult will be visible after 1 year(in some cases 18months)
    Disadvantages
 The risk on postoperative shock lossin the recipient and even donor area is much higher due to
the trauma caused by amajor FUE session
 There is an increased risk on hyperesthesia afterthe procedure
 In some cases, especially in case of a low donor yield, there is a slightly higher depletion level in
the donor area after amajor FUE session
An alternative approach isto perform 3000‐3500 FU in 2 FUE sessions with an interval of 9‐12 months.
    This‘safe option’ hassome important advantages:
    Advantages
 A higher amount of follicular units could be extracted in 2 sessions, ifthe patient‘s donor
    situation allowsit
 There is a considerably lowerincidence ofside effects after aminor FUE session
 A quickerrecovery in case of aminor FUE session
    Disadvantages
 A fullshort hair cut will have to be done twice
 The patient will have to waitlongerto perceive hisfinalresult

Many of our patients use this approach to their hair restoration. The main disadvantage is the hair growth waiting period. It generally takes about a year to realize the results of hair transplant surgery. A year after the first surgery, you may wish you had done more. On the other hand, a year after the first surgery, you could get a better idea of where you prefer to place additional hair. Dr. Cole will sometimes move over 5,000 FUE grafts in one day.
